This project required an expansion and renovation to the fire company’s 50 year old building in order to accommodate a new ladder truck with a reach of 95 feet. Additional spaces for training and office space are provided to meet the mission of this volunteer company. Working with the staff of ArchStone Archtecture, we designed a second floor addition and raised the roof above the apparatus area to provide clearances for larger vehicles. A new exterior appearance is developed to be in keeping with a modern fire station, to be a good neighbor in the residential community, and to provide spaces necessary for firefighting equipment, training and homeland security. Joel Ives AIA, PP, NCARB testified at public meetings to gain approval of the project.
