The Ives Architectural Studio working with John Montoro, AIA was called in to design a new synagogue for the B’nai Torah congregation after they suffered a disastrous file that destroyed their synagogue. The insurance settlement limited the construction funds to $1,000,000. Our team used standard house components and designed a 50 feet by 100 feet building to fit within the budget so the congregation would not have to deal with a mortgage. The building was designed to add classrooms in the future when funds were available. The beautiful ark and wooden pews were obtained at no cost from a synagogue in Brooklyn that was no longer in existence.
