Brooklyn Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York
The Craneway Building, in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, is a 50,000 square feet building which is home to five light manufacturing tenants which manufacture items such as custom, high-end furniture, retail sign manufacturing, circuit board assembly and movie studio set construction. The design allowed for each tenant space to be flexible. Providing convenient loading and high bay 24′ clear spaces. The project was a design build undertaking which The Ives Group led by Joel Ives, AIA worked closely with the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation and Dewbury Engineers, as well as the contractor. The challenge of the project was achieved to create economical space within New York City while being responsive to the difficulties of New York City Zoning and Code requirements.
