Atlantic City, New Jersey
The Ives Group team led by Joel Ives, AIA designed this unusual bridge operator house for an operable bridge spanning the Mullica River in Atlantic City. The design responds to the community’s request to have residential style architecture. The structure was built off-site and lifted into place by a crane to avoid dangerous working conditions above the river. The facility contains a self-contained water and sanitary system to avoid polluting the river. We prepared construction documents including interior design and layout of the control panels. The building was painted to blend in with the colors of the bridge.
