Davenport, Iowa
Joel Ives, AIA provided services for the renovation of the interior of the Davenport Club in Iowa many years ago. Modifications were made in order to improve circulation and access. The spatial relationships within the lounge area were refined, while the “Quad-Cities Room” was enlarged to hold a greater number of people. Although the room had been enlarged, it was necessary to maintain a versatility of the space. The great room was capable of subdivision for smaller private parties. Since the club was located on the 9th and 10th floors of the BlackHawk Hotel, extensive code expertise was required. We worked with local engineers and contractors for a smooth running project. Although the Davenport Club closed down many years ago, the Blackhawk Hotel has undergone major renovations. This project was one of the early Ives interior projects that has led to many similar commissions in subsequent years.
